We will have the following brackets this year: 2-kyu and below, 1-kyu to 1-dan, 2-dan to 3-dan, 4-dan ot 5-dan and 6-dan. We will add an addition bracket to the AUSKF iaido taikai.
We will hold an Iaido shinsa for those wanting to test up to 6-dan. In 2019, our first event will be the 2019 AUSKF Iaido Summer Camp and Jodo Seminar in McMinnville, OR, June 27 – July 1, 2019. I also would like to thank Mazkiya, USA, for supporting us by providing the team members with their zekken/nafuda. Team USA took first place in the Pan-Am Taikai, and those who participated in the Goodwill teams represented the quality of Iaido in the USA. The participants for Team USA were Thane Mittelstaedt (PNKF), John Mullin (AEUSKF), Paul Shin (GNEUSKF), and for the Goodwill teams: Jennifer Mayo (RMKIF), Gordon Hall (AEUSKF), and Edward Vierk (SWKIF). We were able to send six members in which three represented Team USA and the others took part in Goodwill teams. We were able to stay under budget, and use some of the left over budget to provide a Sensei via the AUSKF Instructor Program for a growing dojo in MWKF.Īnother great success we had was the support of the AUSKF Iaido Team to participate in 2018 Pan-American Iaido Goodwill Taikai in Toronto, Canada. We also had two FIK members from Mexico join our events. We had 99 participants for the Iaido camp, 82 Iaidoka participated in the taikai, 46 Iaidoka participated in the shinsa, 44 participants for the Jodo seminar, and 29 Jodoka participated in the shinsa. The 2018 AUSKF Iaido Summer Camp and Jodo Seminar was held in Salt Lake City, UT. I would like to share some successes we had last year, and some changes for 2019. And, I hope the start of 2019 is going well! I hope 2018 ended in a good note for you and your members. Please share this email with your members.
